View Full Version : If Browse/Upload buttons are missing or don't work ...

There are a few people reporting that the 'browse' and 'upload' buttons don't work since the release on March 29.

If this is the case for you, please

First clear the temp cache in your browser
Reboot your computer and modem/router
Try refreshing the page several times and see if they show up

Then, using the 'contact us' link at the bottom of this page, tell us by email (so follow up is easier) the following -

What O/S and version you are using (Windows XP Professional SP2 is an example)
What browser and version you are using (Firefox 2.0.0.3 is an example)
What kind of firewall / security software are you using
Did it work after you tried refreshing the page a few times?

We are thinking that it is a certain ad that may be conflicting with a particular browser.

Please help us narrow it down by providing the answers above.
If you know how to do a screen shot and could include it when you email that would be very helpful as well.

So far we know that Opera users are having trouble, and those still using Windows 95.

Here is a screen shot of what your upload area should look like.

If you use Safari browser with a Mac it will look a little different.

Hi all,

There is some info in the Blog on enabling JavaScript for your browser. Hopefully this will solve the problem for most folks.

http://press.photobucket.com/blog/2007/04/important_uploa.html

If you go through the steps and it still doesn't work, then please do as outlined in the first post and send in your info via email.

Thanks.

Most people are reporting that enabling javascript as outlined in the blog is working for them. (yay  )

In addition, If you are using Windows XP you will want to ensure that all updates are done.

To check:
Click the Start button. At that level or under All Programs, there should be a 'Windows Update' option. Click that and follow the instructions provided.

Other users have been able to resolve the issue by reinstalling Internet Explorer You can download IE7 from the following site:

I've been having this problem too. :(

What does "clear the temp cache in your browser" mean and how do you do it?

One work-around I've used that worked: 1. Open a file manager (ex. Windows Explorer). 2. Locate the file to upload and copy it (ex. Right click on it and click copy). 3. On the Photobucket upload section, paste the file into the white box. It should show an address to the file.

Windows: C:\Path\To\File.ext
Linux: /path/to/file.ext
Mac: (Just guessing) /documents/path/to/file.ext

Sorry mac users, I don't understand the directory structure for a mac yet so I'm just guessing on it.

It worked for me on firefox, but I haven't tried it on IE.

Due to confusion, I am reposting the original post in this thread with the additional IE7 information.

The vast majority of users have found that going through the steps resolved all of the issues.

Perhaps if you have the person who makes sure your computer is running smoothly go through the steps outlined in this thread it would help you out. :)

I'm having similar problems with both IE7 and Firefox 2.0.0.4.

I've cleared all temp files, restarted, etc. with no results.

For the past couple weeks, I've had the additional problem of not being able to even load the site past the login page unless I cleared my photobucket.com cookies between each page load.

That is, I could load the main site but could not get to my account by logging in normally (browser would hang). If, after I loaded the main page, I went and cleared the photobucket.com cookie, I could log in. After *that* page loaded, the browser would hang on any subsequent page I tried.

For some reason that I cannot take credit for fixing, THAT problem went away this morning. However, now that I can load my album, I noticed that the upload links are not showing up. Neither is the "My account" link (if that helps you all debug this problem).

Like others who have posted above, I have scripting enabled so the fixes descripted in this thread along with those described in the blog have proven unhelpful.

Have you uninstalled and re-installed IE7?
What kind of firewall are you using?
What is your album ID?

It almost sounds like you are logging in with a guest password.

Aaaaaaaaand all symptoms are now gone. No change or refresh or reinstall or anything other than posting the note to this thread, above.

I can only assume that some change has been made to either my account or your site, but I'll not jinx my luck by pressing for any kind of explanation.

It almost sounds like you are logging in with a guest password.

If this was the case, you would not have browse and upload buttons. If you then logged in with your admin password instead of your guest password, they would be back.

As you did not give us the name of your account, we couldn't look at it, let along change anything in it. :) As far as I know, nothing on the site that might affect this has changed this morning either.

My account name is the same as my username "mgreenwa" and I've only ever used one password (that I set when I signed up for the account).

I assumed, since my login to these forums was the same as for my photobucket account, that you would have my user info already.

No, registration for this forum is completely separate from album registration. People often use other IDs here. :)

I'm glad your album is working properly.
